Day 9: The Scottish Highlands
This afternoon we arrived in northern Scotland. The weather was spectacular - crystal blue skies, temperatures actually reached the mid-70's with a pleasant breeze. Our excursion took us into the highlands and to be honest, it was a long bus ride (over 3 1/2 hours) to get some scenic views. The pics are wonderful, but literally this was about 99% of the highlights.....seeing these sights, and taking a photo. The guide was "fine" as she was informative without droning on-and-on, but she did very little guiding because.....there was no where to guide us. A "good day" - and the way we looked at it, we were in Scotland, seeing wonderful sights, in very pleasant weather.....who can complain?
If you're wondering - was there a "famous Mark Love story" today? Yes....sigh. Our friends Claudia and Gary got to the excursion check-in first and asked if they could be put with their friends on the same bus. The girl - Claudia reported - was a bit snippy and said "your friends have to be here to sign in with you." So they waited for us. When we showed up a few minutes later we walked up together and Claudia said, "we had asked if we could be with out friends....." and the girl was giving her that skeptical look, then she saw Kim and I and suddenly her face broke into a big smile and before Claudia could finish her sentence the Viking girl said, ".....because you are WITH HIM I can certainly assign you the same bus." Sigh......
